JazzFest Camp

You don't watch this one. You build it.

Be part of the team who does the real work of producing a major festival — site builds, sound, lighting, and artist hospitality — then go backstage at the Springfield Jazz & Roots Festival itself.

This isn't a simulation. Each morning the week of July 6, a small cohort of JazzFest Camp students does the actual work of producing a major festival — site planning, vendor coordination, stage builds, sound and lighting, and artist hospitality.

The week opens with a deep brief on the festival's structure, layout, and this year's artists. From there, students head to the site, working alongside the production team to lay out and build real festival infrastructure.

Then the festival arrives. The Springfield Jazz & Roots Festival kicks off Friday evening and runs all day Saturday — and enthusiastic campers are invited to come work it backstage. Join us for a single shift, or for the entire festival, from load-in to the last set: a working crew, a live audience, the big stage.

The future of childhood is changing. Let’s think about it together.
